Seaporter – Hopsters Brewing Company – Boston, Ma

I do always love a good Porter, they have just such wonderful flavours to them and something about that dark colour has always fascinated me. So, When I was visiting Hopsters Brewing Company I had to give their seaporter a go to see their take. Diving right into the aroma, you notice right off the bat a great smell of coffee which really dominate the aroma. You do also get some malt, but it isn’t nearly as noticeable. Once you take a sip you come again to that coffee, though it is tremendously toned down from the aroma. Instead of it being the dominat flavour you get dark chocolate cutting through to take over, their is also something fruity in there but it was so light to me that I couldn’t tell what it was. Moving onto the finish you get that porter bitterness, which is nice, but the overall flavor doesn’t linger for long. As for food pairing with this, I sadly didn’t have anything to eat with this but I can very easily see it going with anything from grilled meats, oysters or even a nice meaty stew. In the end this was a pretty darn good porter that enjoyed quite a bit, so if you find yourself in Boston and can give this a go I’d certainly recommend it.

TLDR Notes: Smell - Coffee, Malt Taste - Coffee, Dark Chocolate Finish - Short, Bitter Cost - $9.00 at the Bar If you’d like to know more you can check out their site here: Hopsters Brewing Company
