Ah Syrah, one of those classic wines I just can’t help but love as it tends to have so many of the characteristics I tend to look for in a good wine. So, when I saw that RagApple Lassie had one in their lineup I just had to check it out. Which means, as usual, we start with the aroma and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Right from the get go you are greeted by the usual black cherry, which syrah’s are known for, but you also get a very nice hint of blueberry that is quite appealing. Then once you take a sip you find yourself right back with that cherry, though this time without that blueberry. Instead you get a lovely hint of chocolate as well as that typical syrah pepperiness, I always love a little spice in my reds. Thankfully, that pepperiness and fruit last for a while as this has quite a nice, long, dry finish that really brings the whole thing together. Now, as for food pairings, I had this particular wine with nice tuna steak and it went amazingly well. If that’s not your thing though I can see this going with some barbecue or, of course, a good steak. Overall, I have to say that RagApple did a nice job with this wine. It has everything you’d hope for in a syrah and is a wine I can certainly see myself getting again.
