This is an old review I wrote for another site
To those of you who have been following my reviews you have probably picked up that viognier is one of my favourite varietals of wine, this is especially true for Virginia wines. And out of all the ones I have tasted this viognier from Veritas is one of my favourites. When you open up a bottle of this you are greeted warmly by some truly beautiful aromas, the most noticeable of which is citrus. You also get some lovely apricot, miscellaneous tropical fruits and even a bit of wild flower all coming together in this wonderful bouquet of smells. Once you move on to the taste you immediately notice those fruits once again, though this time you also get a bit of peach as well. You also get this lovely hint of caramel as well as a bit of mild spice, which makes it great for food pairings. On that note I had my glass of this wine with some nice salmon and asparagus, though I think that this wine would go equally as well with some spicier foods (thai perhaps) or even a nice pork chop. Now as for purchasing this wine … that may be an issue. My bottle has been sitting in my collection about a year before I opened it and apparently this wine is now quite hard to find. Last time I was at the vineyard they no longer had any in stock, but if you can find this in a store you need to get it. This is a great wine for any wine fan, but especially for lovers of viognier and other white wines.
