This is an old review I wrote for another site
Cabernet Franc is a great red wine and definitely one of my favourites wines over all. So, thankfully for me I live in an area that makes absolutely superb Cab Francs and the ones from Veritas winery are no exception (as a matter of fact they're in my top 3). Specifically though today we will be looking at their reserve Cab from 2008, though their non reserve is tasty too, and I gotta say you get a lot of great smells and flavours from this wine. To start, once you open a bottle, you get these absolutely beautiful aromas of plum and berries that just brings you right into this wine. After that you also get a little bit of spice (what spice, I don't know) to the aroma as well as a bit of pepper which is quite clear. Then after you take a sip you are immediately brought back to those fruits, especially the plum, and now those berries really come out in the form of currant and cherry. You also get a lovely caramel taste to this wine along with a sort of spice to the after taste (again I couldn't really pin down the spice). And to top it all off this Cab had an amazingly long and smooth finish to it, which as you know I adore in a wine. As for food, i had this wine with a lovely pasta dinner with some nice savory meatballs and it all went together perfectly thanks to that peppery quality to this wine. i also believe that this wine would go equally as well with some pizza, couscous or even a nice steak and even though it's a red I think it would go great with some poultry (i tend to like whites with my chicken). Overall I think you will really enjoy this wine especially if you are a fan of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Claret or really any good tanniny red. So my opinion, get a bottle. it may be on the upper end of the price range for some, but this is a glorious bottle of wine for a special occasion or just a nice night in so give it a go.
