This is an old review I wrote for another site
Ah we got another wine here from Heritage Vineyard in New Jersey, this place is starting to become a favourite of mine. I have had a few of their wines now, and reviewed one of those, and gotta say I have yet to be disappointed; and thankfully this Chambourcin is no exception. When you open up this bottle of wine you are instantly hit with these incredibly intense aromas of fruits, such as cherry and plum. There is also an interesting hint of licorice and a little bit of an herb smell to it all. After enjoying the aroma and moving onto the taste you get an equally pleasurable experience with those great fruit aromas coming right through in the taste beautifully, especially the plum and dark cherry. You also get this nice jaminess to the wine with a slight hint of leather (trust me, it’s good). But most importantly you get a wonderful long lasting smooth finish with a nice balance. Now, as for food pairings, I had this wine with a pretty decent lasagna and it went quite well. I also think this would go great with anything from a steak to a nice burger, and of course pretty much anything italian. So if you are a fan of Cabernets, Merlots or lighter Nortons then I think you will enjoy this wine thoroughly. And as a bonus the wine isn't at too high of a price point, so why not give it a try.
