This is an old review I wrote for another site
Virginia Wineworks is one of my favourite vineyards in the Charlottesville area. They make some absolutely wonderful, well balanced wines and this Wineworks White is no exception. Being made from mostly Viognier, with a bit of Vidal Blanc thrown in, you get a wine that really shows off some of the greatest qualities of Virginia white wines. It all starts with the amazing aroma where you get some very intense, though not overpowering, floral notes of various white flowers. After you move past this flowery smell you start to get some nice citrus fruit notes that are quite subtle. This citrus aroma carries into the taste quite well with a noticeable flavour of what I believe is tangerine. Along with this citrus quality you get an interesting, though short lived, after taste of what I think is cream. The acidity of this wine is well balanced which makes it good for pairing with food. Now I didn't have anything when I tried this wine, since it was a tasting, but I think it would go well with spicier foods and maybe even some grilled fish or chicken. This is a very nice, and well-priced wine, and is one you should give a try if you are a fan or Viognier, Vidal Blanc or even Gewürztraminer. It's a great crisp white wine that goes great with foods or even on its own sharing with friends on your porch, so if you get a chance I recommend getting a bottle of this wine so you don't miss out.
