2006 Rosé of Pinot Noir – Catharine Valley Winery – Burdett, NY

This is an old review I wrote for another site

Whenever I get a New York wine in I always have higher expectations then I might have from some other states, such as Ohio. This I due to the reputation the state has for such wonderful wine, and thankfully I have yet to be really disappointed. This Pinot Noir Rosé is no exception; the second you get a good whiff of this wine you immediately notice the fruitiness of the wine from its overall wonderful aroma. The strongest of these smells, for me at least, was definitely that of strawberry. After that you did you also get a bit of generic berry and maybe even a little bit of citrus. Then once you take a sip you are reintroduced once more to that wonderful strawberry; and this time it’s accompanied by a bit of what I think is cherry. The wine also had a pretty decent finish and overall was a quite nice, light wine. Being drier and with a bit of acidity to it you could really pair this with nearly anything, for me though this went with some nice spicy chicken wings. Though I’m pretty sure this would go just as well with some prosciutto or maybe even some clam chowder. In the end this was a very enjoyable wine, and one that I plan to get again. And I think you may like it if you are a fan of Rosé, Pinot Noir or any light and slightly fruity wines. Plus the price point is very nice, so why not get yourself a bottle.
