This is an old review I wrote for another site

Barbera is an interesting Italian red, one I'm not a immense fan of but at least somewhat of one. It's got a bit of a chocolate smell to it with a bit of an earthy quality I can't quite pin down. After taking a sip you get some nice fruity raspberry taste with a bit of a nice spice to it. If you are a fan of Sangiovese, Chianti or really any form of Italian red then you should like this wine, but if not try it any ways it’s a decent wine. And really any good red sauce pasta is great with this wine, it also goes quite well with lamb.
